Responding to the urgent need of the market for differential products, Jaipur based Malgo Exports, has started exports of khadi and khadi wear to European countries. For quality production of khadi, the company has directly engaged 50 weavers of Bihar and West Bengal for their exclusive use. Very much upbeat of the new project, Tarun Goyal, Partner of the company told Apparel Online, “Our buyers from France, Germany and Japan have been asking us to offer something quite different and we were also keen to do something innovative, as business is very low compared to last few years. After exploring many options, we offered them khadi and they found it very attractive, unique and certainly not a mainstream product. Since the products are hand woven and hand spun, it attracts the differential buyer even more.”
As of now buyers are mostly asking for fabric so that they can use it as per their need. But the company is also making garments from the fabric for men’s and womenswear. “With good response and high margins (almost 40 per cent) we are planning to increase our focus in this product category,” adds Tarun. Encouraged by the export demand, the company has started to provide khadi garments to the domestic market also. Future plans include an exclusive store in the name of ‘Main Khadi Hoon’.
