
Titled ‘Civil Society Monitoring on Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) in Bangladesh’s RMG Sector,’ Bangladesh-based civil society think tank the Center for Policy Research (CPD), recently launched a report on the apparel industry of the country even as it maintained concern remains for apparel industry following a small increase in accidents recently and a number of worker deaths related to workplace accidents, which could be observed in the period following Accord’s handing over the implementation of its programme to the RMG Sustainability Council (RSC).
This is as per reports, which added the report further maintained the apparel industry had made significant improvements in OSH over the last decade, especially in the years after the Rana Plaza disaster even as it pointed towards an increase in the number of accidents, the number of which was 180 in 2021, marking an increase from 177 in 2020, as per the report.
