A US Policy Member Expert Team (MET) has been established by Cascale, previously the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC), which developed the Higg Index, to assist in establishing regional policy objectives and directing an advocacy campaign.
As the United States enters a new legislative cycle after the presidential election, the advisory committee, which will be composed of industry executives and experts selected from Cascale’s membership community, will be formed.
Therefore, Cascal’s approach to tackling important concerns and possibilities for the textiles, clothing, and broader consumer products sector will be greatly influenced by the US Policy MET.
Elisabeth von Reitzenstein, Cascale’s senior director of policy and public affairs, and Gabriele Ballero, the firm’s public relations manager, will lead the MET. Their job is to use member insights to inform the MET’s US Public Affairs Strategy.
In order to expand industry activities and bolster Cascale’s voice in legislative and regulatory affairs, the business hopes that its work may complement that of the American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA), a trade group.
The group’s formation coincides with Cascale’s goal to broaden its focus on public affairs and policy to other areas. This new, region-specific approach to these activities is already evident in the EU, where Cascale has so far concentrated its efforts. According to the company, it also intends to create a comparable Policy MET for the Asia-Pacific area in 2025, reaffirming “its dedication to global, member-driven advocacy.”
