Carbios, a recycling technology supplier, has joined Paris Good Fashion, a group that brings together more than 100 French fashion industry participants, including designers, companies, and experts, in support of sustainable fashion.
According to Carbios, the fact that this is the first supplier of recycling technology to sign on shows how important recycling is to achieving textile circularity. Contributing its biorecycling solution for polyester—the most popular and rapidly expanding textile fibre globally—Carbios hopes to further the mission of Paris Good Fashion, which centres on taking practical steps, exchanging best practices, and leveraging collective intelligence to spur change in the fashion sector.
Carbios will play a special role in the association’s initiative to form a working group tasked with advancing the “fibre-to-fibre” business, which is Paris Good Fashion’s main priority for the next five years. This working group will find levers for dramatically boosting the share of recycled fibres in the industry, even though currently only 1% of textiles are recycled fiber-to-fibre (circular).
Bénédicte Garbil, SVP of corporate affairs and sustainability said, “Becoming a member of Paris Good Fashion is an important step in Carbios’ development and an obvious one given our shared commitment to a circular textile industry.”
Isabelle Lefort, co-founder of Paris Good Fashion added, “The future of circular fashion will inevitably involve the development of an efficient fibre-to-fibre industry in Europe. The integration of Carbios within Paris Good Fashion, as a member, represents the importance of supporting and accompanying this industry.”
