
The apex garment makers body in Bangladesh- the Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), recently organised a blood donation programme in the organisation’s complex in the capital Dhaka.
According to reports, the week-long programme (from June 18th-24th) — the inaugural event was attended amongst others by the Chairman of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Major General (Retd) ATM Abdul Wahab; BGMEA Vice-President Md Shahidullah Azim, Director of Holy Family Red Crescent Medical College Hospital Brigadier General (Dr) SM Humayun Kabir (Retd) and Chairman from the different standing committees of the BGMEA — was inaugurated by BGMEA President Faruque Hassan.
Speaking on the occasion, Faruque reportedly underlined the current BGMEA board has taken the strategic Sustainability Vision 2030, where people have been given the highest priority and went on to add the motto of the BGMEA was to work for the well-being of the people of Bangladesh and humankind at large, both within and outside Bangladesh.
The BGMEA chair further called upon all its members as well as that of the BKMEA as well as all commercial, Government and private organisations to come forward and save the lives of people by promoting voluntary blood donation.
