
Bangladesh is actively exporting a diverse range of products crafted from pineapple, banana, and jute yarn to 39 different countries even as these unique items are created by blending yarn made from banana plants, pineapple leaves, and jute fibre with cotton yarn, resulting in a variety of exquisite home decor products.
In addition to these materials, the production process incorporates other natural resources such as bamboo, cane, date palm leaves, palm fibre, water hyacinth, ‘dhaincha,’ and corn husk, yielding an array of goods that spans from T-shirts to kitchen utensils.
These high-quality products find their way to 39 countries around the world, including prominent destinations like Germany, the Netherlands, and Spain.
Notably, esteemed companies like KiK, Zara, and Walmart are among the prominent buyers of these exquisite creations.
This success story belongs to Classical Handmade Products BD Limited (CHP), an enterprise founded by entrepreneur Md. Tawhid Bin Abdus Salam approximately 15 years ago. His journey began with a career in the buying house sector and teaching, but he later transitioned into entrepreneurship with the goal of generating employment opportunities for individuals with lower incomes.
Starting with a modest capital of only Taka 1.4 million and a single staff member, the initiative has evolved into a company with investments totalling around Taka 2 billion. CHP now provides employment for 4,700 individuals, including 86 women.
