Specialized in evening dresses and completing three decades of its establishment, Delhi-based U&I Exports is in the process of shifting to its new factory in Noida. Earlier, the company which has its manufacturing facility in Delhi, with an investment of US $ 1.5 million, will now shift to its bigger and much organized factory in Noida. Despite difficult market conditions, the company is planning to double its capacity within a year.
Ricky Chhabra, Director of the organization informed Apparel Online, “The main reason for shifting was to be more organized and for that we needed more space. The new factory is in 17,000 sq. ft. area while earlier we had only 6,000 sq. feet space. As of now we are using 12,000 sq. ft. and rest is for future plans. Though Noida offers advantages like easy availability of labour and raw material as compared to East Delhi, but power shortage of 2-3 hours daily is a big problem.” Exporting hand beaded evening wear to US, Europe and Middle East with the FOB of US $ 14 to 20, the company has a capacity of 10,000 pieces per month at present and within a year it will try to double it. “By and large, though the current market doesn’t seem to be promising, but we are hopeful that with more organized systems we will be able to get good orders in future,” says Ricky.
U&I Exports has a good working experience with buyers like Landmark Group, Black Inc., JD William, Davids Bridal, TBB, Atlantic Apparel and many more.
