
Ijaz A Khokhar, Chief Cordinator, Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PRGMEA), has asked the Government to take up export ownership and hold meetings with stakeholders every quarter in order to boost apparel exports.
PRGMEA further urged the Prime Minister to declare export emergency so as to take the country out of economic shambles.
Ijaz, while reiterating on the above, said that this would help creating lot of job opportunities thereby strengthening the apparel sector in the country.
He also added that the government should focus on starting ‘One Window Operation’ to increase taxes and foreign exchange.
The Government also needs to create aggressive marketing strategies to enhance apparel exports in addition to reviewing policies for SMEs.
Corroborating on above, Ijaz said that the Government should study and implement export policies of countries like China and Vietnam so as to increase Pakistan’s garment and textile exports.
He also urged the Prime Minister to create garment export promotion council and said that the business community was confident that the multi-pronged strategy of the Prime Minister will help taking the country forward.
