Soon Farrukhabad may get its own textile park!
The Uttar Pradesh Government has announced that it has bought land to give the city its maiden textile park. Spread over an area of 14 hectares, the park is expected to be built at a cost of Rs. 200 crore.
The city today has 104 textile units, of which 80 of them can shift to the park.
There cannot be better joy than this for the apparel manufacturers of the city, as over the years hundreds of apparel and scarves manufacturers of Farrukhabad have set up their units in Noida and now the city is all set to get its own textile park. And add to it, there will now be more jobs for local youth.
The demand for a textile park in Farrukhabad is decade old and despite several meetings, nothing never materalised.
The Central Pollution Control Board had asked the textile units to shift out of the city. Principal Secretary (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) Navneet Sehgal told that textiles units in Farrukhabad would be shifted to the park one by one.
Notably, the park will be maintained and developed by private players under Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV).
Farrukhabad is well known for textile printing and for over last 200 years textile sector has been a source of livelihood for local craftsmen.
