Organized at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre the 7th edition of Hong Kong International Home Textiles and Furnishings Fair, which was held from April 20-23, witnessed participation of over 18,000 buyers. The fair was also marked by the presence of over 270 exhibitors from around 8 countries and regions. India made its presence felt with over 80 exhibitors taking part at the fair.
Sharing his experience with Apparel Resources, Ravi Gupta, Balaji Loomtex, Bagpat (UP) said, “We had some pre-fix meeting with buyers. So, the whole experience proved to be satisfactory. This year, the footfall was low and few buyers from Australia, Netherlands and South America were seen at the fair. The number was much lesser than expected.” Further elaborating on the low footfall, Gupta averred, “Apart from economic slowdown, the increase in the number of sourcing fairs organized annually is also one of the reasons for less buyers visit.”
Umesh Batra, Partner, Sai Saburi International, Noida, added, “On an average buyers footfall was less, but we managed to get some buyers from Scandinavian countries at the fair. Our focus was on bags this time.”
