DSM Dyneema has announced that protective vests based on the company’s Dyneema® Force Multiplier Technology have been selected by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for protecting bureau personnel. The selection criteria included evaluations of weight, performance, comfort and flexibility. Compared to the body armor made from traditional materials such as aramid, these protective vests can reduce weight by 30 per cent, while enhancing law enforcement officers’ comfort and agility with fewer layers of material and increased flexibility. Designed by Point Blank, this innovative material is produced in the US at DSM Dyneema’s Greenville manufacturing facility.
