Venetia Butterfield is set to join Next as an independent non-executive director from 2nd April 2024. Upon her appointment, she will contribute her expertise to Next’s nomination, audit, and remuneration committees.
Currently serving as the managing director of Cornerstone, Penguin Random House’s largest adult division, Butterfield is known to have great knowledge for her role. Her previous roles include being the publisher of Penguin General and overseeing the Viking, Penguin business, and Penguin Life imprints.
Next stated, “Her successful leadership of an independent business within a larger conglomerate will be particularly helpful as Next steadily increases the number of businesses it takes on within the group through its Total Platform initiatives.”
In addition to her role at Next, Butterfield serves on the board of Governors for the Southbank Centre and was previously the vice chair of Governors for West London Free School Primary and Earl’s Court Free School.
