In these tough times, when every small and big retailer has been struggling to survive the crisis, mergers and acquisitions have become a part of growth strategy.
In one such latest acquisition, the UK-based AK Retail Holdings, which owns the womenswear label Yours Clothing, has acquired the British womenswear retailer Long Tall Sally.
The good news for all Long Tall Sally loyalists is that the brand is now saved.
More on this, Alison Doherty, COO, Long Tall Sally, said that the brand is happy that it can live on and all its loyal customers can continue to enjoy the unique fit.
The consumers can continue to shop from Long Tall Sally’s website till 27 August. However, from 1 September 2020, Yours Clothing will officially take over the intellectual property and digital business of Long Tall Sally.
AK Retail Holdings, reportedly, stated that it will continue to run Long Tall Sally as a digital business, though it ruled out any immediate plans to open its bricks-and-mortar stores.
The acquisition is expected to create as many as 30 more jobs and many opportunities across all functions.
Besides Yours Clothing, AK Retail Holdings also owns BadRhino and Bump It Up Maternity and is known for its plus size apparels. Yours Clothing’s reported turnover is 105.6 million GBP.
Long Tall Sally, on the other hand, is known for its clothes for tall women (as the name suggests), with 50 per cent of its business coming from North America alone. It had announced its closure in June 2020 following the pandemic onslaught.
