Shapewear prices in the UK have reached their highest since 2020, with the category’s annual value estimated at over £ 42 million, according to research from Centric Market Intelligence.
The research also shows that the cost of the women’s category has grown by 8 per cent since 2020. According to an analysis of women’s shapewear listings on e-commerce sites in the UK, the average cost per item has reached £ 45.68 for 44 well-known brands. The three years since 2020 are included in the analysis, and between January 2022 and November 2023, expenses increased by 5 per cent on their own.
Shapewear averaged £ 39.26 per item in 2021, the least expensive year for buyers, and £ 46.16 in 2023, the most expensive, a difference of £ 6.90.
Centric Market Intelligence expert Elizabeth Shobert said: “Search data confirms the popularity of specific brands of shapewear, as we see online searches in the UK for ‘Skims bras’ increasing over 300 per cent year on year.”
