As Target Australia published the list of its Bangladeshi suppliers, Oxfam Australia has called on to other retailers to be transparent about their sourcing. Among eight Australian companies to sign the Bangladesh Accord on Fire and Building Safety, the company has listed the names and addresses of 37 suppliers in Bangladesh on its website and plans to publish details of its factory partners from all overseas suppliers by the end of 2015. Stuart Machin, Target, MD said supply chain transparency was key to the company’s commitment to improving working conditions and safety standards in Bangladesh and other sourcing countries since it is their responsibility to ensure that everyone who works for their business, whether directly or indirectly, is safe in their workplace.
