Ace football player and Indian men’s football team captain Sunil Chhetri is the latest to join the band of brand ambassadors for Puma India.
Chhetri is the second highest active international scorer in the sport, only behind Cristiano Ronaldo.
After signing the 3-year deal, he has become a part of Puma’s list of stalwart athelete brand ambassadors such as Antoine Griezmann, Romelu Lukaku, Luis Suarez and Sergio Aguero.
Chettri is part of the Bengaluru FC as well, apart from being a striker for the national team. He, by far, leads in the number of goals for India and is the most-capped player for the nation.
“I am excited to join the Puma family. Over the years, I have closely witnessed and experienced the brand’s football heritage. Now signing with them as a Puma player is a very natural progression for me,” Chhetri commented on the matter.
“We share a common goal to accelerate the growth of football in the country. I appreciate their commitment to the sporting ecosystem and look forward in creating a new chapter for Indian football,” he added.
Chettri is also the recipient of Padma Shri this year and Arjuna Award in 2011. He has been conferred the All India Football Federation’s (AIFF) Player of the Year 6 times.
Puma India previously teamed up with the Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli, boxing champion MC Mary Kom and sprinting champion Dutee Chand in an endeavour to empower sports in the country and fuel the growing passion for sports.
