Skims, the shapewear and swimwear brand co-founded by Kim Kardashian, has been named the official underwear partner for the National Basketball Association (NBA), Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA), and USA Basketball.
The news, which marks a multi-year relationship, was made a few days after Skims’ first men’s collection debuted, signalling the brand’s considerable expansion into new markets.
Kim Kardashian, co-founder and creative director of Skims, said in a statement, “I am incredibly proud of Skims’ partnership with the NBA, as it is a reflection of Skims’ growing influence on culture.”
Co-founder and CEO of Skims Jens Grede emphasised how the NBA has shaped pop culture, entertainment, and fashion trends. He called the collaboration “a remarkable opportunity for Skims and the NBA to work together on what it means to engage the next generation of fans through basketball.”
“Together, Skims, the NBA, WNBA, and USA Basketball will leverage the power of basketball to generate excitement and demand by showing up in unexpected ways,” said Adam Silver, NBA commissioner, in a statement.
Future major events like the NBA All-Star Game and the NBA In-Season Tournament will feature the new collaboration. As a result of the collaboration, Skims will be featured in media on several league channels. This includes promotion via the official social media and internet channels of the NBA and WNBA as well as on-court virtual signage during national broadcasts of both sports.
