
India’s oldest department store chain Shoppers Stop Limited on Friday announced the appointment of Venu Nair as Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company, effective 6 November 2020.
The company said in a statement that as Venu takes up the new role, he will lead the next phase of expansion.
Venu has replaced Rajiv Suri who stepped down as the fashion and lifestyle retail giant’s MD and CEO in July this year, citing personal reasons.
Expressing his delight at Venu’s appointment, the company’s Chairman BS Nagesh said that he is pleased to have Venu onboard as the MD and CEO.
“Venu has an exceptional leadership track record, strong international exposure, deep strategic expertise and proven experience of driving transformation and managing technological disruption, which is the need of the hour,” he underlined, further adding, “We believe that Venu is the right person to lead Shoppers in this critical phase and its next phase of growth.”
Venu, an international retail expert, boasts of 27 years of rich and diverse experience in the retail and apparel industry across South Asia and Europe.
He is presently operating as the CEO of Westside at Trent Limited.
