Tiger Woods’ apparel and sneaker company Sun Day Red is the target of a lawsuit brought by fashion behemoth Puma, according to a document submitted to the US Patent and Trademark Office. To prevent Sun Day Red from utilising its tiger emblem, the corporation has submitted a motion.
The abstract tiger theme in the brand’s logo, according to the German shoe and clothing manufacturer, is too similar to the leaping cat symbol that Puma has been using since 1969.
The filing stated that customers are likely to encounter misunderstanding between the challenged marks and the Leaping Cat logo due to the confusing likeness of the marks and the identical, legally identical, or closely related nature of the parties’ goods and services.
Tiger Woods, a professional golfer, introduced “Sun Day Red by Tiger Woods” in February 2024, just one month after his 27-year collaboration with Nike came to an end. Tigeraire, a technological business, filed a lawsuit against the Sun Day Red logo in September 2024, making Puma’s action the second complaint against the design.
