Zuhairah Washington, the CEO of online fashion outlet Otrium, appointed in July 2023, has stepped down, as confirmed in her LinkedIn post.
Washington, who served as the president and chief operating officer since 2021, aimed to lead Otrium to growth in Europe and expand its presence in the US. Frank van Valderen, the former chief financial officer, takes over as CEO.
This change aligns with the sale of Otrium’s US arm to Rue Gilt Groupe, described by Washington as a “premium and luxury off-price e-commerce” business. The divestiture shifts Otrium’s focus to its European operations.
Washington stated on LinkedIn, “Because of Otrium’s focus on Europe, it makes sense for me to pass the baton at this time to a leader operating in this market full-time.’’
Founders, Max Klijnstra and Milan Daniels, distinguished themself by offering a comprehensive e-commerce solution, encompassing photography, logistics, and aftercare. Collaborating with around 300 fashion brands, Otrium facilitates the sale of surplus stock through its online outlet platform. The CEO transition and US arm sale mark significant changes for Otrium’s journey in 2024.
