A new bespoke upcycling service called Newless has launched in the UK, offering consumers the opportunity to transform preloved pieces into custom garments.
Newless is on a mission to reduce fashion’s environmental impact by making upcycling more accessible and attractive to a broader audience. The service allows customers to send in their preloved garments, which are then upcycled into something entirely new.
The brand’s ‘Newless on Demand’ service offers a simple, five-step process to create a bespoke garment. First, customers choose a preloved garment from their wardrobe or select one of Newless’s curated vintage items. Newless then sends a mail-in kit containing everything needed to take measurements and return the starting piece.
Next, customers complete a five-minute design questionnaire, providing details on size and style preferences for the custom piece. A designer will then begin working on the garment, possibly reaching out for additional input. Within five days, the finished custom garment is sent back to the customer.
Newless offers a variety of suggested custom garments on its website, such as a blazer set made from an oversized blazer, a denim skirt crafted from an old pair of jeans, or a mini tailored skirt repurposed from old dress trousers.
The On Demand service starts at £ 70 and can go up to £ 150, depending on the complexity of the design.
In addition, Newless plans to host regular pop-up events where customers can have their garments upcycled live by emerging designers in under 90 minutes. These pop-ups, described as a social experience, will allow consumers to collaborate with Newless designers on bespoke pieces while enjoying drinks and socialising with friends.
