Moda Operandi, the online luxury fashion retailer, will be soon opening its first showroom in China.
Though the city has not yet been disclosed, this is an effort on part of the US-based retailer to expand to Asia.
The luxury retailer invites customers to pre-order next season’s looks directly from the designers after the runway. This also helps designers and brands get first hand consumer response to their latest collections.
For others, Moda Operandi offers an expertly curated in-season boutique.
The retailer recently appointed Puja Clarke, former Burberry and Tesla executive, as senior Vice President of fashion buying and e-commerce.
“In China, consumers prefer buying products on an app irrespective of the price of the product. Chinese consumers are more familiar doing shopping through video sessions and chatting platforms than shopping through websites.” – Puja Clarke, Senior Vice President, Fashion Buying and E-commerce, Moda Operandi
Clarke said that Clarke remarked that this shopping trend will soon spread from China to other parts of the globe.
The fast expansion of the luxury retailer in last 1 year has been helped by the US $ 165 million investment ably led by billionaire entrepreneur Adrian Cheng.
Expanding Moda Operandi’s showroom concepts and stylist programmes may go a long way in enhancing its growth globally.
