UK-based John Lewis Partnership has appointed Clare Swindell as a Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee.
The majority of the “highly experienced finance professional’s” career has been spent in retail. She joined Camelot in 2017 as CFO and served as co-CEO until last month. Before then, she worked for 17 years at Tesco in a variety of operational and financial capacities, including CFO for Tesco.com. She was also Group CFO at the customer data science and analytics company Dunnhumby. Nicky Dulieu, who resigned in December, is succeeded by her.
As for the Audit and Risk Committee, Jane Hanson has also joined the Partnership as an Independent External Member. In consumer-focused boards, she has over thirty years of experience in both executive and non-executive director roles. After serving on the Committee for more than eight years, Sharon Fennessy will stand down in April in accordance with corporate governance best practices. She will be succeeded by her.
Sharon White, Chairman of the John Lewis Partnership, said, “I know [Swindell’s] broad range of skills and experience in leading retail and consumer businesses will be a real asset to the Partnership.”
