JD Sports, renowned British retailer, has acquired majority stake in Missy Empire for an undisclosed sum.
The deal is, as per media reports, seen as an effort to push the sportswear retailer into young fashion market with the intent to lure new and young customers.
Meanwhile Missy Empire, the British fast fashion e-tailer, will continue to run as a separate brand. Here it is important to state that its sportswear collection (Missy Sports) could be sold on the website and stores of JD Sports from 2022.
The move will enable to build brand awareness, retain customers and support with scaling up growth across the globe for the fast fashion e-tailer.
Notably, some members of JD Sports are, reportedly, expected to join the team of Missy Empire in 2022 to help the business grow.
JD Sports seems to be on an acquisition spree! After buying DTLR and Oi Polloi earlier this year, Missy Empire is the latest in the list.
