Fila has launched a new collection called Fila+, which it claims “represents the brand’s legendary legacy in sportswear, reinterpreted via the prism of modern design”.
Lev Tanju, the founder of skatewear company Palace has been appointed as the fresh offer’s Creative Director. His expertise will play an essential part in guiding Fila+ into an interesting and promising future.
The inaugural collection under the new brand is billed as an “elevated take on sportswear,” with garments and accessories that “combine premium fabrics with sleek, contemporary design.”
The ensembles are inspired by the brand’s heritage, with “classic silhouettes. pieces that blend workmanship and sincerity suitable for everyday style”.
The firm stated that his prior collaborations with other brands and musicians “have demonstrated his ability to resonate with an array of audiences beyond the skating community.” This ability to bring disparate cultures together is a significant reason he was picked to oversee the new launch.
Tanju stated, “Fila has a rich and beautiful history stretching over a century. I was astounded by the size of the archive and thoroughly enjoyed everything in it. Pierluigi Rolando’s narrative, his desire for creativity, and his breakthrough accomplishments have truly inspired me. I really liked the entire Italian squad; they were so honest and seemed like a family.”
The Fila logo, with its F-Box shape, is quite unique, and there is now an updated logo for the new launch that has “vibrant new colours, with green and a brighter shade of red on a white background, reflecting the colors of the Italian flag”.
Todd Klein, Fila’s Global Brand President, stated that the invention is “a major milestone for Fila, as it keeps pushing the boundaries of sportswear. Fila+, under Lev’s supervision, is more than simply a subsidiary of the brand; it’s a testament to [the label’s] spirit of creativity.”
Fila+ will be sold internationally, with an emphasis on “major e-commerce platforms, local department stores, and key boutiques”. The initial collection will be exhibited to purchasers this month, followed by a general and media unveiling via a campaign in June.
