
Bangladesh Post and Telecommunication Minister Mustafa Jabbar has maintained recently that digital criminals involved in e-commerce frauds should be brought to book in the shortest possible time and punished mercilessly so as to curb such crimes.
As per reports, Mustafa Jabbar came up with the observations while addressing a webinar titled ‘E-commerce: Current Situation and Possibilities’ recently even as he added that the way criminals were using technology for committing digital crimes, superior technology needs to be used to curb such crimes.
The Post and Telecommunication Minister’s statement, reportedly, comes in the wake of the recent move of Nagad (mobile financial service arm of Bangladesh Post Office), to suspend some accounts temporarily for suspicious e-commerce transactions while also sharing information related to those accounts, to the law enforcement agencies.
The minister further, reportedly, added if digital criminals cannot be tackled, such crimes will rise exponentially.
