US-based retail chain Target Corporation recently announced to increase its one-day shipping service, Shipt, across its outlets in 10 locations inside the greater New York City metro region.
Reportedly, through this service, consumers will be able to order from more than 55,000 groceries, essentials, home decors, apparels, among other products. As a consumer completes its purchases, Shipt’s shoppers visit the stores to buy the products and deliver them on the same day.
Through this move, the retailer is eyeing to hire about 2,000 shoppers in the New York area to meet the demand of its customers. Any member who gets on board before August 14 will receive an annual membership for US $ 49 (without the special offer it costs US $ 99).
Target Corporation acquired Shipt in 2017 with a deal that was worth US $ 550 million. The company at the time of acquisition called this move as a part of their ambitious strategic agenda.
John Mulligan, COO & Executive VP, Target said that same-day delivery was at the top of the brand’s priority list when it was looking for innovative ways to make shopping experience at Target more easier. “Shipt has a unique consumer-focused concept which fits in with our commitment to deliver a convenient, unmatchable experience,” he added.
Furthermore, the American retailer revealed that it has extended its Drive Up service to 200 additional outlets that provide its customers with the liberty to shop through Target’s mobile app and pick up the product according to their suitable time at a Target store.
The service is currently available in Chicago, Indianapolis and Columbus markets. With this expansion, Drive Up is available at more than 800 brick-and-mortar locations in 25 states. The retailer is planning to introduce this service in other areas by the end of next month and targets to have 1,000 stores providing this service to its customers.
