Gap-owned fashion retailer Athleta’s products will now be sold in 135 REI stores as well as online.
The American fashion retailer has said that the move is a part of its growth plan to attain the net sales target of US $ 2 billion by 2023. This was confirmed by the company in a press release.
Here it is important to mention that both Athleta and REI had entered into a partnership back in 2018 and this decision to sell Athleta’s products in REI stores and online is an extension of that deal.
It’s been a busy 2021 for Athleta! After expanding its digital presence in Canada, the retailer launched the new wellness and empowerment platform AthletaWell in July 2021.

Prior to this expansion, Athleta products were being sold in 14 REI stores. Furthering the deal now with REI, in all likelihood, will help Athleta to win the trust new customers.
The partnership will enable shoppers buy Athleta’s lifestyle, hike and yoga bottoms, as well as select tops and accessories. Reportedly, REI will carry select products in extended sizing, from 0 to 26, for its hiking and fitness clothing.
Athleta was founded in 1998 and was bought by Gap in 2008 for US $ 150 million and is today a reputed name in women’s activewear.
