American Eagle Outfitters announced the appointment of two executive leaders following the previously announced departure of the company’s EVP, chief operations officer, Michael Rempell.
Sarah Clarke has been appointed EVP, chief supply chain officer at the Pittsburgh-based apparel company. She will be responsible for overseeing AEO’s worldwide supply chain from sourcing to distribution. Clarke comes to AEO from PVH Corporation, where she was global chief supply chain officer. Effective 30th October, she will report to Jay Schottenstein, executive chairman and CEO.
Similarly, Valerie van Ogtrop will join AEO as EVP, brand operations, a newly created role aimed at increasing brand collaboration while fuelling development and profitability across the company’s American Eagle and Aerie brands.
Van Ogtrop joins J.Crew from Madewell, where she most recently served as EVP president, brand operations. She will be responsible for AEO store operations across the United States and Canada, brand finance and strategy, and merchandise planning, reporting to Jennifer Foyle, president, executive creative director, AE and Aerie, and Mike Mathias, executive vice president, chief financial officer, beginning 30th October.
“Sarah and Valerie bring deep industry knowledge and proven capabilities that complement our organisation and innovative culture,” said Schottenstein.
The leadership reshuffle comes after Rempell’s resignation from his role as COO of AEO in August this year.
