Amazon India steps forward with an idea to help small businesses recover from the economic disruption caused by the global COVID-19 pandemic!
The e-commerce giant on Sunday announced that it is all set to host the third edition of Small Business Day (SBD), its sale event, on 27 June. It will coincide with the Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSME) Day.
The event aims to help small businesses like artisans, weavers, micro-entrepreneurs and start-ups revive their business amidst coronavirus.
Consumers will get a chance to purchase unique products under several programmes by Amazon including Local Shops, Amazon Launchpad, Amazon Saheli and Amazon Karigar.
Products available on sale will include home essentials, sports items, regional weaves in fashion, handcrafted accessories and footwear and kitchenware amongst many others.
Various theme stores like India Bazaar, Budget Buys, Bestsellers and more will offer these products.
“SMBs (small and mid-sized business) are the backbone of the Indian economy who also make the most unique selection of products. These businesses were on a consistent growth trajectory until COVID-19 disrupted many of them,” Gopal Pillai, Vice President – Seller Services, Amazon India, said, further adding that the company is truly “committed to support them and help generate customer demand for their products.”
Amazon launched the SBD event in December 2018 in the country to promote small and mid-sized enterprises (SMEs) and micro-entrepreneurs.
The e-commerce major shared that more than 1,200 sellers witnessed their highest single-day sales ever during the second edition of SBD, held in December 2019.
