Adidas has stated that some of its remaining Yeezy products will be on sale by the end of May and will only be offered through its e-commerce website and app.
The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and the Philonise & Keeta Floyd Institute for Social Change are just a couple of the organisations Adidas said will benefit from a “significant amount” donated to them. The latter organisation will also collaborate with Adidas on community projects.
Since the sportswear giant’s breakup with Kanye West’s label in October 2022, this is the first time Adidas x Yeezy products have been offered for sale.
The decision was made after Adidas came under pressure from the public to distance itself from the rapper-turned-designer and denounce West’s provocative and anti-semitic remarks in the latter part of last year.
Existing designs and those started in 2022 will be among the products that will be made accessible; a date has not yet been fixed for the releases of other products that are presently being thought about.
Adidas stated that the company’s current financial outlook for 2023 will not be immediately impacted by the releases of the existing inventory.
The business went on to say that it carried out production orders that had already been committed to after the collaboration ended in order to “protect its supply chain partners from being adversely affected by cancellations.”
In a release, the brand’s CEO, Bjørn Gulden said, “After careful consideration, we have decided to begin releasing some of the remaining Adidas Yeezy products. Selling and donating was the preferred option among all organisations and stakeholders we spoke to.”
