Mysuru district plans to become a major textile export hub, targeting textile and apparel (T&A) exports of US $500 million by 2030, up from US $53 million in FY 2024–25.
The roadmap, presented during a district-level workshop inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy, projects an annual growth rate of around 45%.
During FY 2024–25, Mysuru recorded total exports of approximately US $820 million, with the textile and apparel sector contributing US $53 million, accounting for nearly 2% of Karnataka’s T&A exports. The district currently has more than 10 active textile and apparel exporters.
The district’s manufacturing ecosystem includes over 61,500 MSMEs, 25,447 industrial units, and 916 registered industrial establishments, supported by eight KIADB industrial estates. Mysuru is also strengthening its textile base through its rich silk heritage, led by the Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation (KSIC), which produces around 75,000 Mysore silk sarees annually, along with a dedicated Silk Cluster and a proposed Textile Park.
Mysuru’s textile exports include readymade garments, shirts, sportswear, furnishing fabrics, and technical textiles such as FIBCs, polypropylene fabrics, container liners, polyethylene liners, and flexi tanks. These products are primarily exported to Europe, the United States, Japan, and the Middle East, supporting the district’s strategy to expand its global footprint.
