During the 61st Annual General Meeting of the Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI) on 27th September 2024, a new Managing Committee was elected for the term 2024-2026. Santosh Katariya has been appointed as the new President of CMAI. Alongside him, other key members of the committee include Rohit Munjal and Ankur Gadia as Vice Presidents, Naveen Sainani as Honourary General Secretary, and Mukesh Jain as Joint Honourary General Secretary, among others.
With over 17 years of experience in the apparel industry, Katariya, the Managing Director of Peppermint Clothing Pvt. Ltd., Pune, has been involved with CMAI in various capacities, including as Regional Chairman of the Western Regional Advisory Committee and Honourary General Secretary for four years. Upon assuming the presidency, Katariya emphasised his focus on strengthening the association and expanding its membership base to 7,000 by the end of his term. He also highlighted the importance of working closely with both Central and State Governments to facilitate smooth trade for the industry.
In his vision for the industry, Katariya stressed the need for India’s readymade garment (RMG) sector to become ESG compliant and to explore new sourcing opportunities amid changing global supply chains. He aims to elevate the “Made-in-India” brand globally as a symbol of quality in the RMG industry.
