A contract has been signed by the French interlining company Chargeurs PCC Fashion Technologies to purchase two major business areas of the Swiss company Cilander. Cilander is an expert in fine textile materials and finishing options for various uses.
The agreement states that Chargeurs will buy Cilander’s shirt fabric division, which is mostly made up of the Alumo brand, which manufactures cotton used to make men’s shirts. The purchase also includes Swiss Ghutra, which specialises in high-end fabrics and headpieces for clients in the Middle East, Brennet contemporary fabrics, and the Eugster & Huber brand, which supplies materials for women’s fashion labels.
Chargeurs will also assume ownership of the Geissbühler textile finishing factory located in Lützelflüh, Switzerland. The location, which was established in the late 1600s, is essential to the manufacturing of outdoor fabrics for various uses under Cilander’s Planofil performance textile brand.
Cilander was established in 1814 and offers textile finishing methods and surfaces to clients in the fashion, sports, and interior design industries. It also has operations in Herisau, Switzerland, in addition to Lützelflüh.
Chargeurs will be able to increase its market share in the clothing industry, specifically in the shirt-making sector, and penetrate more niche markets as a result of the acquisition.
“The project of acquiring the strategic assets and notably the most iconic brands of the Swiss company Cilander will mark a pivotal moment for our business line,” said Gianluca Tanzi, managing director, Chargeurs PCC Fashion Technologies.
The acquisition is a prelude to Chargeurs’ 2025–2030 strategic strategy, which will be completed and unveiled in the first quarter of 2025. It is expected to be finalised later this year.
