“When everyone was opting for faster printers, we were the only company that stuck to the basics of quality and stability of the print-heads, because it’s the print-heads which print and by just making the printer fast, you have actually killed the detail and depth which digital printers are known for.” – Neeraj Kapoor,
Senior Marketing Manager, Mimaki Kanphor India
Mimaki, one of the oldest players in the industry has been continuously providing solutions for improving the quality and performance of digital prints. Mimaki was present at GTE with its series of JV5 printers which were eagerly awaited in the market. Representing the company at the fair Neeraj Kapoor, Senior Marketing Manager, Mimaki Kanphor India said, “We have acquired more than 95 per cent of the emerging markets in south India apart from our dominance all over the country.” Mimaki has currently more than 400 printers installed all over the country;however, sales figures have never been the priority for them.“We have actually helped build the industry in India in the past 12 years. We don’t just sell printers to our clients, it’s the knowledge which we share with them to help them compete at the global level and trust me it feels good to be in a position like this,”he quips.

Mimaki had on display JV5 series of printers, comprising of three models – JV5-320S, JV5-130S, and JV5-160S. The models come with high grade specification which enables super high speeds and exceptional image quality.
One head of the printer consists of 8 lines with 180 nozzles per line, which are four times as compared to the conventional nozzle printer. “The JV5 series comes with cutting edge technology of UISS (Uninterrupted Ink Supply System); in this JV5 utilizes four cartridges per colour in 4-colour mode. When one ink cartridge runs out, another cartridge begins supplying ink and helps prevent running out of ink,” adds Neeraj.
The machine is extremely user-friendly and gives outstanding printing results as the head attached to the machine is automatically adjusted to the thickness of the media. The head can go from 1.5 mm to 7 mm, providing excellent printing quality. The printer has an automatic nozzle drop out detection technique which prevents the clogging of ink thereby saving the wastage of media and ink. The media is heated in three stages, one is preheating before it has actually gone for printing and the second is at the time of printing and the third one is at the post printing stage. This printer comes with 4 lines staggered arrangement which gives a high speed printing, covering about 4 times the width of a conventional printing machine.
Talking about the core strength of the company, Neeraj explains, “When everyone was opting for faster printers, we were the only company that stuck to the basics of quality and stability of the print-heads, because it’s the print-heads which print and by just making the printer fast, you have actually killed the detail and depth which digital printers are known for. We at Mimaki took our timeand developed faster print-heads and not just printers, and today once again we are ahead of the game.” He also informed that all the printers before being launched in any market are first tested rigorously in the company’s Indian facilities.
