Tamil Nadu Minister for Textiles and Handlooms, R. Gandhi, on Thursday inaugurated a new mini textile park at Kodangipatti, established under the State’s Mini Textile Park Scheme.
The scheme, aimed at boosting industrial infrastructure in the textile sector, provides 50% of the expenditure towards the creation of common facilities, infrastructure, and factory buildings. Each park is eligible for a maximum Government grant of Rs. 2.5 crore (US $ 283,000).
The Kodangipatti facility has been set up at a total cost of Rs. 11.87 crore (US $ 1.34 million), of which Rs. 2.5 crore (US $ 283,000) was provided by the State Government as a grant. The remaining investment has been borne by Oasis Texpark Private Ltd., a Karur-based integrated textile developer. Oasis Texpark specialises in creating industrial clusters and shared infrastructure for textile businesses, facilitating cost-efficient operations and enabling small and medium enterprises to scale. The company has been closely aligned with the Tamil Nadu Government’s drive to modernise the State’s textile ecosystem and improve its competitiveness in global markets.
According to an official release, three companies will operate within the new textile park, creating employment opportunities for around 400 people.
Gandhi noted that nine mini textile parks had been approved for Karur district alone, reflecting the region’s importance as a hub for home textiles and garment exports. Of these, two parks—including the new Kodangipatti facility—are already operational, while the remaining parks are under construction.
The Minister stressed that the scheme would not only help strengthen the textile sector but also generate large-scale employment in semi-urban and rural areas. By promoting cluster-based industrial development, the initiative is expected to enhance the global competitiveness of Tamil Nadu’s textile value chain.
