Reliance Brands is ending its partnerships with Dutch clothing brand G-Star RAW and Italian denim brand Replay due to the low demand for luxury goods including these international clothing brands. Reliance has begun closing its outlets for these brands and substituting them with the other foreign companies with which it has collaborated, people privy to the matter have reported.
The majority of G-Star stores have closed, yet they are still present on internet marketplaces, one of the people stated, adding that Reliance would soon close Replay outlets because they believe these two brands are becoming less relevant in the Indian market. G-Star may consider collaborating with another retailer to promote their brand in India.
A decade ago, the Netherlands-based G-Star entered India in partnership with Genesis Luxury. In 2017, Reliance acquired Genesis, bringing G-Star into its fold. In 2018, Reliance Brands acquired the exclusive distribution rights for Fashion Box’s Replay, completing its wide range of denim brands, which also includes Armani, Superdry, Gas, and Diesel.
