Bottega Veneta is emphasising the craftsmanship of its products. The Italian label, owned by the Kering group and renowned for its leather goods and signature intrecciato weaving technique, has appointed Barbara Zanin to the newly created position of Head of Crafts and Heritage. Zanin, who has been in charge of product development for leather goods since 2001, brings extensive experience to the role.
Zanin joined the company in 1998 as a research assistant for leather goods at the Montebello Vicentino atelier in Veneto, northern Italy.
In her new role, “Barbara Zanin will be working closely with Creative Director Matthieu Blazy and CEO Leo Rongone to preserve and promote Bottega Veneta’s artisanal crafts expertise. She will oversee all the artisans working at the Montebello atelier, expand the label’s archives, and serve as an ambassador for Bottega Veneta’s exceptional leather craftsmanship,” the label stated in a press release.
By creating a position dedicated to fostering artisanal craftsmanship, Bottega Veneta aims to focus even more on leather accessories, a key category for many luxury brands, especially as the luxury market experiences a slowdown.
