China has continued growing in its garment exports as it has upped its exports in August ’21 both on Y-o-Y and M-o-M basis, as per latest data.
On the other hand, textile exports have remained dismal noting yearly decline. However, it grew on monthly basis in August ’21 as compared to July ’21.
According to the latest data of General Administration of Customs, China (GACC), the country exported US $ 17.60 billion worth of garments and accessories, increasing by 8.64 per cent over August ’20 and 6.21 per cent over July ’21.
Cumulatively from January to August period in 2021, the apparel and accessory exports reached US $ 105.69 billion, which is 28.10 per cent more than what China had exported in the same period of 2020.
The textile exports (yarns, fibres and fabrics) accommodated US $ 12.52 billion in August ’21, tumbling by 14.88 per cent on Y-o-Y basis. As piled up inventory of July ’21 – due to shipping issues – got cleared in August, the revival on monthly basis was 7.10 per cent!
As far as Jan.-Aug. ’21 period is concerned, textile export remained sluggish as it dropped to US $ 92.77 billion from US $ 104.67 billion in Jan.-Aug. ’20 period.
Although there was a relief for the Chinese textile exporters in August, the production halt in Zhejiang’s 160 textile firms from 19 to 30 September will impact the country’s textile export in September.
