John Lewis Partnership, the renowned fashion bigwig from the UK, is all set to donate over £1 million to 1,000 local charities and community organisations to fight poverty.
The donations, notably, are part of company’s ‘Give a Little Love’ scheme, which focuses on eradicating child poverty.
To make this happen, each store of John Lewis and Waitrose will direct their regular community donations to charities in their communities – all through from May to July.
The donations will be made not only monetarily, but also through clothes, food and kitchen items.
While substantiating on the same, Mark Rashford, who runs Child Food Poverty Task Force, said that John Lewis Partnership is a member of the group that is a coalition of brands that work together to eradicate child food poverty.
It is worth mentioning here that John Lewis Partnership’s Give a Little Love’ scheme has already raised more than £3 million for long-term charity partners FairShare, Home-Start and other groups, besides pledging to support with another £2 million earlier this year.
John Lewis Partnership has also donated 5,000 warm clothes to Home-Start.
Founded in 1864, John Lewis today has over 40 stores in Great Britain.
