Weekday, a Swedish fashion brand owned by H&M, has introduced custom-fit Body Scan Jeans!
The innovation has been done in collaboration with San Francisco- and Hong Kong-based Unspun, a custom-fit technology company; TG3D, body scanning company and YR Live, an event and experience company.
The technology will be made available in Weekday’s Götgatan store in Sweden.
Customers will be allowed to book an in-store contactless scan time. The Unspun’s 3D scanning technology will create a virtual avatar of the customers using 100,000 data points to produce custom-fit jeans.
The algorithm supports creation of custom-fit jeans for each individual as if the jeans were woven around the actual body. The customers will also be allowed to further personalise their jeans with their choice of fabric, waist and hem options and various combinations of trims.
The jeans will be ready to pick up within 2-3 weeks from the date of order placed.
The retail price has been marked at 900 Swedish Kronor, or approximately US $ 100. The customers will be allowed to return the jeans for up to 30 days after the purchase and refund will be offered in the form of store credit.
The laboratory started the project in 2019 where 100 customers were called for the trial of the technology. Initial goal of the project was to achieve a customer satisfaction rate of 65 per cent; however, at the end of the trial 80 per cent of the customers were ‘very pleased’.
