DPD, the parcel delivery firm, has announced its plan to establish zero and low-emission delivery means by 2025.
The plan includes 25 towns and cities across UK including Birmingham, Bradford, Brighton and Hove, Bristol, Cambridge, Cardiff, Coventry, London, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham, Oxford and Plymouth, amongst others.
The company already has over 700 electric vehicles (EVs) and is planning to expand its reach to deliver totally green and reducing its emission in the place with the highest populations.
DPD also aims to deliver around 260 million parcels or 17 per cent of the Group’s volume through zero or low-emission vehicles by the end of 2025. This would result decreasing the CO2 emissions by 89 per cent and its pollutants by 80 per cent compared to 2020 in the targeted towns and cities.
For the step, the company has planned an investment of €200 million that would be used on the deployment of 7,000 new alternative vehicles, 3,600 charging points and 80 new urban depots across Europe.
“We know from what we have done in central London that this model works, and we know that shippers and shoppers both love seeing parcels delivered green. So, we have made significant progress already.
