DHL, the official logistics partner for 30 fashion weeks across 15 cities across the world, presented the well known designer Masaba on the second day of Lakme Fashion Week Resort 2013, along with the equally prominent duo of Shivan-Narresh. With this being DHL’s seventh consecutive year and 13th season of association with Lakme Fashion Week, RS Subramanian, Country Manager, DHL Express India, was a satisfied man. “Fashion Week is the biggest event in the fashion calendar and, as such, provided us with the perfect stage to showcase our expert, tailored logistics offerings to the fashion industry. The fashion industry relies heavily on flexible and intelligent logistics and DHL has one of the most extensive fashion and apparel network capabilities in the logistics industry,” said Subramanian As for their collaboration this year, Subramanian said, “This season, we are very excited to present Shivan and Narresh again, as they are extremely talented and their collection is very chic and international. We are also presenting Masaba Gupta, whose eclectic aesthetic taste is refreshing and stimulating.”
While Masaba’s collection gave a preview of her “Postcards from Benares” range- to be launched in fall 2013- this year was the second collaboration for DHL with Shivan-Narresh after the untrammelled success of last year’s partnership. Showcasing a collection titled ‘Zip’ which was inspired by the abstract expressionist Barnett Newman and revolved around the glamorous 1950’s American Holiday, the designer duo further elaborated on their focus on visual presentation. “Trikinis, bikinis, maillots and tankinis were colour blocked with amazing construction. The elegant linen shifts hand painted in shades of cherry red, white and brown will make perfect beach attire.”
According to Subramanian, DHL’s foray into mainstream fashion has been a successful venture as it has helped them prove their partnership abilities with garment manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and designers, offering speedy, on-time, customised logistics solutions and access to international markets after marking a strong presence in close to 220 countries and territories.
