Always innovating to give new cutting room solutions, the US company Eastman which has retained its manufacturing in the country has recently released its latest offering the LeatherPRO. Applicable for both conveyor and static cutting systems, the solution is especially for customers working with leather where detection of flaws in the hide is required.
LeatherPRO, which offers digital defect marking and allows two operators to simultaneously mark imperfections on the hide, has been engineered to handle up to 6 different defect types and 6 different patterns quality zone types so that even the most demanding quality standards can be maintained. This innovation allows the marking of defects on an entire hide in approximately 2.5 minutes.
The defects are marked with projected virtual lines using a light pen, eliminating messy chalk and tape residue on the material. Increased yields are realized through a digital hide database, advanced sorting algorithms and the ability to nest for long periods of time. Nesting may be accomplished off-line or at the cutting system.
Eastman’s computerized nesting maximizes leather yield and reduces pattern placement errors associated with manual nesting. Marking leather defects electronically is intuitive and easy to learn. Using a simple, battery powered LED pen all defect marking and basic operational functions can be performed quickly and easily without the need to interact with a computer mouse or keyboard.
Eastman founded in 1888 by George Eastman and acquired by the Stevenson family in 1898, only recently completed its 150 years of innovation. “We are excited that the company has reached this milestone, and are proud to honour the outstanding contributions of the people who have been a part of our history. We plan to continue to provide reliable products, services and solutions that benefit our customers,” said Wade Stevenson, President, Eastman Machine Company.
