India’s younger generation of designers is mastering the unorthodox movement that challenges the traditional ways of conducting business in the world of fashion.
Day 3 of the ongoing Lakmé Fashion Week opened with a show where three such designers – Bloni, Anaam and ASA shared the runway to showcase their Summer/Resort collections. Their work shows a relentless focus on an aesthetic that is not hyper-Indian but doesn’t just preach international silhouettes at the same time either.
The fashion industry has been going through a flux lately, changing everything from the show calendar, going co-ed to the way they present their collections. This move was also incorporated in our own fashion week where some 25 designers, who were doing stalls for buyers, held a collective showcase in the ‘Showroom’ area. Each designer showcased one look on a model in this new format aptly called ‘The Showroom Edit’.
“It is the first time we are hosting a fashion sequence at the Showroom to showcase the collections of the designers that are exclusively showcasing for buyers only. This is another step towards enhancing the business of fashion at Lakmé Fashion Week,” explained Jaspreet Chandok, VP and Fashion Head, IMG Reliance.
