In a move to bolster its in-store operations and customer experience, Marks & Spencer (M&S), the UK-based retail giant, has chosen SymphonyAI Retail CPG to implement cutting-edge AI and computer vision technology across more than 500 of its stores.
The partnership aims to revolutionise the way M&S manages its store shelves and product placement. Leveraging AI-based technology integrated into handheld devices, the retailer will capture images of products on store shelves and compare them to store-specific planograms. This innovative approach will provide real-time insights into the compliance of products on display, ensuring a well-organised and customer-friendly shopping environment.
Rob Barnes, Chief Technology Officer at M&S, emphasised the importance of this technological advancement in the company’s growth strategy. He stated, “As we reshape M&S for growth, we’re investing in technology that will create greater efficiencies and a more connected in-store experience for our customers. Through our partnership with SymphonyAI Retail CPG, our colleagues will be able to leverage AI-based technology to help them deliver exceptional service to our customers”
The CEO of SymphonyAI, Sanjay Dhawan, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, saying, “We are honoured M&S selected us to help raise the bar in delighting customers, and we look forward to benefiting its customers and store colleagues with the transformative power of our AI-based store intelligence. This is a powerful example of how an innovative retailer can continue to lead their market with industry-leading connected store technology from SymphonyAI Retail CPG.”
