Luxury fashion house Gucci, has expanded its digital presence by introducing Gucci Cosmos Land in The Sandbox metaverse, offering a novel way to engage with the brand’s rich heritage. Gucci Cosmos Land serves as a virtual representation of Gucci’s London archival exhibition, mirroring its physical counterpart.
This virtual environment provides a gateway for users worldwide to delve into Gucci’s past and explore its diverse designs and apparel through digital means.
Within Gucci Cosmos Land, players can navigate the virtual world using parkour, through Gucci’s designs and legacy over the decades. This format not only educates participants about the brand’s history but also offers an entertaining way to engage with fashion. Additionally, the platform grants a unique opportunity to view some of Gucci’s archival designs that have never been showcased publicly before, further enhancing the experience for fashion enthusiasts and historians alike.
The Sandbox, an Ethereum-based metaverse game, allows players to purchase virtual land through NFTs and create their own games and experiences. Notably, it’s free to play without the need to buy tokenised items and has partnered with brands and entertainers like McDonald’s, Adidas, and Ubisoft.
The creation of Gucci Cosmos Land is a collaborative endeavour, featuring the vision of ES Devlin in shaping the landscape and the expertise of curator Maria Luisa Frisa to provide depth and context to the presentation. The result is a metaverse experience that pays homage to Gucci’s foundational elements and its evolution since its establishment by Guccio Gucci in 1921. Drawing inspiration from Guccio Gucci’s experiences at The Savoy Hotel in London, Gucci Cosmos Land also encapsulates the essence of the brand’s roots.
Gucci’s foray into the metaverse is not its first; the brand previously made strides in this domain. In 2022, Gucci introduced the Gucci Vault within The Sandbox, bringing its Milan Fashion Week show to the virtual stage, reaffirming its ongoing strategy to intertwine the realms of fashion, culture, and technology.
