Fit3D, a leader in 3D body scanner technology, announces the launch of BodyBlock AI, a body scan data service for the apparel and garment industry.
BodyBlock AI’s services are intended for those developing new clothing design and fit. It saves time by removing the extra efforts and steps involved in traditional sizing study. It helps the design team in better understanding of the product line and the data specification required to break-down the size array. Also, it provides access of the actual 3D body scans to the design team which can be used in designing process.
Moreover, clothing retailers can use Fit3D’s predictive measurements to recommend sizing for consumers in the store and online.
As per the report, retailers have faced a loss of US $ 64 billion from the apparel return and have spent US $ 43 billion on revamping the sizing chart for each of the brand’s product line.
“The apparel industry needs a much larger data set in order to provide a better fit for their customers,” said Tyler Carter, Fit3D Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer.
Company has developed 500,000 body scans till date with the help of Fit3D, including scans from 45 countries and 47 US States. The data set is 65 per cent female and 35 per cent male, with ages ranging between 24-80.
“Our vision from day one has been to leverage our body scanning services to build the largest, fastest growing, and most globally diverse 3D body avatar dataset in the world. Fit3D and clothing brands can utilise that anonymized data to help the world design and distribute more customized and well fitted clothing,” said Greg Moore, Fit3D Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer.
