The Indian knitting industry’s foundation is based on the two hubs of Ludhiana and Tirupur, who after a gap of 2-3 years have again started showing signs of revival. The May edition of StitchWorld, presents the insights collected at the recently concluded KnitTech (Tirupur) and KnitWorld (Ludhiana), from technologies providers catering to the growing domestic sector and an increased focus on productivity and quality of the fabric. Also highlighted are the new technologies on display at both the fairs. Vibemac, a company which needs no introduction when it comes to denim jeans manufacturing technology and its India partner EH Turel & Company, showcased at the recently concluded Indigo fair a fully automated sewing line of 30 machines producing 1000 jeans per 8 hours shift. The operation ‘live’ at the fair was an eye-opener and a learning experience for the visitors. Shirts being one of India’s strengths and with automation being the need of the hour, the article analyses the Return-on-Investment of three levels of basic, intermediate and advanced technologies for attaching front patch packet on shirt, to help choose the right fit.
