Earning over US $ 4 billion worth of apparel export revenues consistently for few months regardless of pandemic fallouts is no small feat! But, Bangladesh has done it as the country’s RMG sector has been witnessing a dream run of late. Having notched US $ 36 billion in apparel exports already, we feel US $ 50 billion is just round the corner, a target which was set by the BGMEA back in 2014-2015.
All it calls for now is to extend adequate support to the industry while also address the challenges such as imminent LDC status; migrant labour; and port congestion on hand. Though growth is inevitable, the country needs to take these pertaining challenges head-on.
